Polly has spent much of her life immersed in the Australian landscape, since her upbringing on the land. Literally at the back of Bourke NSW where the love of aerial landscapes began with its magnificent colours.Polly is especially drawn to capturing the sparseness of the Australian outback from above, with a wonderful sense of depth, stretching out to the horizon which now features strongly in her work.
Initially taking art classes during her secondary schooling, Polly did not consider the visual arts a professional pursuit, until adulthood, when she adopted a primarily self -taught approach. The viewer is engulfed in Polly’s works where her memories of the outback and Australia’s vast and vibrant landscape is expressed.
Her paintings are based on sketches created on site, from back up photographs and her recollection of the location. Her work represents actual places but is often constructed from memory and her impression of the environment.Working quickly to cover the canvas with big brush strokes while blocking in and creating angles and movement. Building up layers of colour and texture, often finishing with a palette knife.
Polly’s art is a celebration of creativity and expression, inviting viewers to experience the world through her unique lens. With each brushstroke, Polly continues to inspire and engage with the art community and beyond.
Polly has held both solo and group exhibitions, additionally she has participated in The Affordable Art Fairs, her works are appreciated in Australia and internationally.
Polly and her husband now reside in Forster, mid north coast of NSW, her heart still ruled by the colours and shapes of the outback.
